Mariko on fw 9, I will mod it, can i update?

I decided to mod my Mariko switch with chip.
I can soldier and I'm training for micro welding. I just have to found the courage. And I hope I will find it. But meanwhile...can I update my switch? I'm stick to 9 hoping that a SW mod is found but I think it will never happen so...
