Do couple’s actually make friends with other couples?

We are fairly new to the lifestyle and have decided we was to build friendships with the couples we swap with and hopefully do things semi regularly.
We have noticed a lot of people say that is what they want as well. Then we get ghosted before or after.
So I am curious does anyone actually follow through?

I've met a couple of couples I became good friends with. Usually our friendship was based around doing some low-key shared activity like cooking for each other or playing board games before group sex. Worked pretty well for a while.
