Well, it happened again. Started chatting online with a couple this week, and everything seems promising - chats are fun and friendly, seems like there’s chemistry and potential possibilities. All seems good. Then we get to the “so how about we meet up for a few drinks?” part - not even any sex planned, just an in-person meet and greet to say hello - and I’m the only one who shows up. The couple goes radio silent, and I’m pretty sure I’ll never hear from them again.

This is the fourth time this has happened to me. And … well, I’m just kind of bemused and annoyed by it. Every time, there weren’t any signs of second thoughts or hesitation- every time, the last couple of messages are these cheerful, enthusiastic “great, looking forward to finally meeting you!” messages before the no-show and subsequent vanishing. If you don’t actually want to meet up, just say that? It’s a little disappointing to hear, but I’m not offended. And it sure beats sitting at a bar or a coffee shop realizing that you’ve been ghosted. I don’t get it. Doesn’t exactly leave me with great feelings about myself.
