How liberated is the area you live in specific to swinging?

We are headed to Boston for my husband to run the marathon in April . Of course, we start looking for clubs etc and find out there aren’t any, and the closest is a BYOB in RI. It got me thinking it’s crazy that a city as metropolitan as Boston can be so backwards liberally. We live near Toronto and there are many clubs, alcohol available and legalized weed..
Interested to know what the local scene is with follow redditors.
