Should we be giving out gold stars for basic decency now?

Post Body

So I got a message from a single male on one of the many apps and part of his message read "....Iā€™m very respectful and do not push to do anything that a partner is uncomfortable with."

I mean, I guess it is good to be assured you won't rape me but WTF?? How and when did the bar get so low that now men feel they have to flaunt common decency and basic respect?

Of course the male privilege of it all is not lost on me that he wants a pat on the back for doing the bare minimum and being respectful of women's boundaries. Situation reversed, I would never type such message to a man with such absurd "assurances". I so badly wanted to go off in a reply but realized this may all be too simple yet too complex for anyone who sends such a message. But on the other hand, whose job is it to educate the stupid masses?
