Scheduling conflict drop couple or not

We have been trying to meet a new couple a bit out of town; we are sure they are real as they sent a verification pic with our names on it and we have their phone numbers. Twice, they have canceled. Both times, they have given 3-4 days notice. They have been apologetic; and it’s not like we booked a hotel room; it’s more a casual meet and greet.
