We are going to our first party tomorrow. A no sex board game night. Wifey used to attend parties with an abusive, creepy ex and found his party crowd equally creepy.

So she is nervous. She’s nervous about the normal social anxiety of not knowing anyone. I know the hosts. She’s also nervous that everyone there is bonded by their interest in sex, and will be evaluating her as a conquest.

These hosts and this crowd are super chill and into making everyone feeling comfy and safe, and letting everyone be at their own pace. I think she’s expecting people to basically not be good people. We’re talking through her anxieties. I’m nervous too.

I said we won’t go — but she says “we’re going”. We agree we can always leave.

I guess I’m asking if her anxieties are realistic, and what others experiences have been.
