Scheduling errors aka did I ditch them?
Post Body

So recently we posted on a Facebook group looking to make connections. We were inundated with offers and my wife chose a couple people to meet up with.

We set up a group chat with a particular couple and after the first day they didn't chat much, which is no big deal. We're more about the real life connection anyways.

The last message they had sent was on a Monday and I sent an additional one on Wednesday about booking reservations (I was asking which times worked for them as I was about to book). They didn't get back to me that day, which wasn't a huge issue. Then nothing the next day either.

I know people can get busy so I didn't think much of it until I saw them actively hitting on couples on the Facebook group. I figured they had ghosted us.

On the Friday reconnected with a couple that we have history with and scheduled them in for the night we had booked with the original couple.

Now on Sunday, the original couple messaged us back as if everything was fine. I don't feel like rescheduling with our friends over a couple who ignored us so I messaged them this:

"So this is kind of awkward but we hadn't heard from you guys since Monday and had seen you guys posting on Facebook so we assumed you guys were ghosting us.

I was going to message and ask to be sure but I didn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable.

We ended up making other plans for that weekend. I feel terrible about the way this all shook out. We're open to rescheduling with you guys if you have any interest but we totally get it if this has left a sour taste in your mouth."

Did I handle this entire situation appropriately? The only real issue I take with myself is that I didn't reach out to be sure, but I figured that would just make everything awkward if they were ghosting us. I'm honestly surprised they were still intending on going.
