Recently we have been working very hard to improve /r/SwingersR4R, implementing several quality-of-life changes for our users. One of the things we are doing to combat fakes is the implementation of a Helpful Guide and Instructions section for user education. This guide includes detailed instructions on what the user should expect when using /r/SwingersR4R and other helpful documentation on verification, spotting fakes, and other relevant info.
It can be accessed here (Open in Safari on Apollo).
We would like some feedback on the guides themselves. Are there any information you would like to see added/modified? Or, would you would like us to cover another topic that has not been covered yet? Let us know of your thoughts.
A TL;DR list of other things we've done in the /r/SwingersR4R sub are:
- Updated subreddit design for desktop and mobile. It is much cleaner and modern than before.
- Added flairs to posts, allowing users to search for specific flairs.
- Started featuring outstanding posts via "Featured R4R" flair.
- Brought AutoModerator online to enforce new title rules, with significant readability enhancements for our users.
- Added a Helpful Guides and Instructions section (Work in Progress) to assist with new and veteran swingers in the meet up process.
- Enabled AutoModerator to post the Guides on every post for verification and fake spotting education.
- Added more rules aimed to improve user experience, including enforcing the removal of low effort posts.
- A lot more back-end automod improvements.
Edit: I love how this post is being downvoted by the fakes, that means we are doing something right. Keep em coming! :)
Thanks Angela, can always count on you for helpful feedback.
- Regarding expectations, it's designed to help newbies cope with other flakes. Perhaps adding a "Try your best to to honor the commitment you make to others?"
- Maybe adding a "how to deal with flakes" section is the right approach?
You have given me a lot to think about. Thanks.
Awesome. Since we started using reddit exclusively, we have yet to been flaked by following our gut. It’s a very powerful thing.
Thanks for the feedback. There are a couple of problems with flairs:
- We considered making flairs R4R (FM4FM, etc..), Swap Type (Current config), or Location.
- R4R as a flair didn't make significant sense, as you can easily search for the exact wording using the search bar
- Location would have created too much work for the mods to specify every city, and is also easily searchable.
- Swap Type, therefore, seemed to have been the most appropriate homogeneous optional flair to be made available for the users to use at this time. (AutoMod is currently auto assigning soft/hard flairs based on post title)
- Flairs are somewhat flawed as they cannot be made mandatory, as AutoMod would be deleting 80% of the posts for not having a flair. This will be true until adoption goes up.
- As a result, filtering by flair would only apply to the 20% of the posts that actually added a flair, and may cause you to miss some posts.
At the end of the day, we'll have to think about how to make flairs more useful, as right now it's more of a "fun" feature.
I do not disagree. Flairs are a soft launch at this time since we don’t know how useful it is currently for our users. We may eventually enforce a flair but will do so slowly since we just did a system shock with the title enforcement. Do you think the current flairs are useful? Or do you prefer to see another set of parameters flaired instead?
The biggest problem at the moment is tackling fakes. We’ve added a disclaimer to every post, but let us know if you have any ideas on that too.
You have to go to account settings and enable NSFW content.
