My wife and I are active swingers and have studied STDs pretty extensively. We are most concerned about herpes because of its prevalence and how it spreads via skin to skin contact.
About a year ago we started washing our genital area with Hibiclens prior to leaving for a party. Admittedly this is probably 6 or 7 hours before we would ever fuck another couple, but we figure that it can't hurt. Hibiclens does have a proven residual affect. In fact, some surgeons recommend that patients wash with it the morning of their scheduled surgery.
We also (as quickly as possible) scurry off to the nearest bathroom to wash our genitals after sex. It's really remarkably easy and hasn't caused any problems with vaginal irritation. I should also note that there doesn't seem to be any taste or smell with the hibiclens.
This post has two objectives. #1, I want this idea to be in cyberspace somewhere so that other concerned swingers may see and read it. #2. I'm curious if anyone with legit credentials/training in this area has an opinion on its effectiveness.
This doesn't change our behavior. We don't indulge in riskier behavior than we would otherwise. It's just something that we figure "can't hurt."
Were tested annually for everything, including HSV1 and HSV2. Have nothing. IMO anyone playing this game should be tested for every STI at least once per year. One shouldn't leave their status to hunches or guesses, when a blood draw and urine sample is all it takes to be tested. It literally seems like the least swingers could do.
Its impossible to say if it works or not.
FWIW, we haven't had any problems. The female half has to be very careful as to not get irritated. For example, she can't use latex condoms and certain lubricants bother her as well. However, she's not had any problems with the hibiclens. That said - she's not putting it INSIDE of her.
You're right. I guess Molnycke is the parent company? Anyway, I deleted that comment.
The CDC always errors on the side of caution. Notice the language "does not prevent." They know they are talking to a population with very little understanding of science. I don't think the hibiclens prevents HSV, but I suspect that it helps.
