Sponge or disc?

I've been reading posts trying to find some ways to deal with having my period while playing. I've read about both sponges and discs.
Is there one that seems to be better than the others? I'm leaning towards a sponge, mostly because I've always had trouble getting a menstrual cup to sit properly. But am willing to try it out if others think it's the best option.
Period delaying / birth control not an option.

I can't give an accurate answer as I've never tried a disc, but I found sponges about a year ago, and I absolutely love them. No leakage, even on big nights, and in circumstances where I've squirted. Also, I have a decently heavy menstrual flow so I was pleasantly surprised.
