We are back trolling the apps for a specific type of single guy that i haven't found many matches for, I found 1 promising one, we messaged a lil a couple of nights ago, great messages, and I was excited to be meeting up with him. He called me "Love" in a good morning message, and i said mentioned we really dont do pet names, and now the thread is stale and feels weird.
I cant picture many couples would like to have their SO being called pet names by someone else (and i think "love" would probably be the worst choice out of any pet names for couples). But single guys all seem to want to call you baby or something. I don't understand it. It's always a turnoff, and it almost always happens.
We dont mind things like "beautiful" or "handsome" because we put those more in the compliment category than terms of endearments. But i find all the other ones (dear, sweetie, honey, baby, babe, ect.) a bit obnoxious. I am not a sweet baby.
Do you partnered men and women ever call your new matches pet names? And any insights on why people use them? Is it supposed to make you feel closer to the people, or is it just laziness cause you can't remember the names of who you're texting?
