Strange question for the more experienced couples here - when you were first starting out, did you prefer swapping with couples 1:1 in private settings, or in large group settings like parties? Or did you even draw a distinction?

We've been swapping for a relatively short period of time and we enjoy it but we've found that we're more comfortable with swapping when we're at a party. We've had some fun 1:1, couple to couple dates but it feels to us like we're more likely to run into issues when its just four people. I guess we just feel like its easier for us to enforce our boundaries and to make decisions about whether/how to swap without getting in our heads about it when we're dealing with strangers in group settings.

Has this been anybody else's experience? It seems like for a lot of folks the gold standard is the FWB couple, but for us its just less fraught to fuck randos.
