My wife and I were talking about a situation from afar and we ran across something that we are surprised we disagree on. Are flowers more or less intimate than body lotion?

Background: We had a threesome with someone and afterwards we complimented her skin on how nice and soft it was. Days later my wife gets the name of it and buys some for herself and it's great. Our friend had a special event and we talked about whether to send her flowers or a gift (roughly the same cost) . We agreed to send the balm as the gift. We then started talking this evening and we noticed our differences. We've only played one time and I felt that flowers were more of an emotional escalation than balm, but my wife disagrees. It's not a problem either way, just interested in hearing others thoughts.
