Last Saturday, I (25F) went to my boyfriend’s (24M) friend’s (25M) house, where his friend’s girlfriend (23F) was also hanging out. I had never met his friend before, but they seemed to have an amazing friendship. One thing that caught me off guard was how touchy they were with each other. It seems like both of their love languages might be physical touch because they were constantly affectionate—holding hands, hugging, and being really close.

At one point, the three of us (my boyfriend, his friend, and I) went out to dinner, and his friend grabbed both of our hands as we walked down the street, making us look like a thruple. When I jokingly mentioned that, his friend responded, “Oh yeah, we definitely are,” and kept doing similar things throughout the night.

Later on, we went back to the friend’s place, where his girlfriend joined us. After a few drinks, things got even more touchy—his friend would lay on me, touch my boyfriend’s legs, or we’d all hug together while watching a movie. During the movie, he had his hands over my boyfriend's shoulders or thighs, caressing him while also caressing me. His girlfriend was more low-key (like me, I didn’t know what to do in case I was misinterpreting things) but definitely aware of what was going on. We talked a lot, and she seemed really nice. Me and my BF ended up staying over, sleeping in the same room but in separate double beds. Before bed and in the morning, the male friend came over to cuddle with us two.

I found the dynamic really HOT, especially seeing my boyfriend all cuddled up with his friend. I started wondering if there was potential for things to evolve into something more, like a foursome. I’m not sure if I was the only one picking up on these vibes, so I didn’t bring it up at the time. We also played “Never Have I Ever,” and I found out that he’s never kissed another guy, identifies as straight, and has never had a threesome (though his girlfriend has). So now, I’m even more unsure of how to read the whole situation.

Now, I’m thinking about talking to my boyfriend about it, but I’m not sure how to approach the conversation without making things awkward or pushing him too far out of his comfort zone.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? How would you suggest I bring this up?
