We just got back from four days at Exotic Dreams Resort (EDR) in Palm Springs, CA. We have been a couple of times before and were looking forward to heading back.

We enjoyed our time there. The added sun shades over the main area were nice and let us enjoy being outside longer. Overall, it seemed better maintained than it was during our past visits.

The crowd was good with a nice mix of regulars and folks like us from out of town. Our neighbors were from Australia and New Zealand. I had to work hard not to copy their wonderful accents.

We were there during Splash House Weekend and on Saturday afternoon they decided to surprise everyone by letting us know that they would be hosting a 2 AM afterparty. The main area of the resort would become vanilla/clothing required. No one there knew this was happening until they told us while we were enjoying being naked in the pool. My wife and I decided to cut our losses and went to bed before the vanillas arrived.

On Sunday, we got an email from EDR announcing that “Kenny is back in town and ready to change everything that you have heard about EDR.” The email then proceeded to talk about how even though they hosted Bi-Night events the club is not a gay resort and no gay activities are allowed.

The email also mentioned that on weekdays (Monday through Thursday) no membership was required and therefore no public sexual activity would be allowed.

Things got even weirder once we got back. EDR has now announced that going forward, every Saturday the main pool area will be vanilla/clothing required. The other areas will still be clothing optional/nudity required as before. If you have a room in the main pool area, you must cover up to get to the nude areas.

Based on these changes and the strange tone communication from the resort management has taken, it is highly unlikely we will be back. I would much rather spend my money somewhere that is happy that lifestyle folks are there and does not view them as a necessary evil to keep things busy during the week. I am a bit bummed out because things were pretty fun before they got weird.
