I won't name the denomination. It Just Wouldn't matter anyhow.
Anyway... she was shamed by her immediatw and extended family from expressing sexual urges when she was very young (early bloomer. She was caught touching herself fairly frequently at a young age). She was frightened with eternal punishment and threatened with disfellowship and ostracization for expressing what some of us might consdier quite normal sexual urges even in private. And yet she was naturally, organically highly sexual. She left that church long before we met but the residual anxiety and shame is still there and it imposes itself at times when we are with, or plan to be with, others which we have been doing now for over 20 years (editors note: she does this of her own free volition without coercion by me or anyone else. Put away your swords, conclusion jumpers). We talk it through, we unpack it, we deal with it but it is always part of the experience, all the moreso the kinkier and more "immoral" the behavior would be regarded by those childhood authorities. It can make it difficult at times to settle on plans if she comes down with an acute case of shame anxiety.
Just putting it out there for productive conversation in case anyone else can relate.
There is a great book out there called “Divine Sex: Liberating Sex From Religious Tradition” by Philo Thelos
