HSV+ Disclosure: How and How Soon?

Post Body

How soon is too soon to disclose to potential couples that we are HSV ll positive? We have every intention of being upfront about that, but I’m not sure when is most appropriate to mention it. On the profile itself? After a few texts? The first meet-up sounds much too late.

We have never had a profile and have only been to clubs, where things never got as heavy to mention, or with other friends who already knew anyway because it was casually discussed prior. We were both young when we met and have been together longer than a decade, so this has never really come up before in dating.

Is it too much to say “HSV ” on your profile? Is there a trendier way that swinger couples communicate that (seems there’s an acronym for everything)?

I imagine it’s prevalent in the LS community, but I could be wrong. All I see on Reddit communities are people requiring “clean and fit” which is understanding, but also discouraging.

The risk of transmission from male to female under suppressant medication and wearing a condom is less than that of pregnancy. I wish it was less stigmatized, and maybe it is in progressive and sex-positive communities, I just don’t know.

Thank you for your (kind, please) advice!
