Hedonism 2 review
Post Body

So the stars aligned and Bacchus smiled upon us and we were finally able to get to Hedo after talking about it for many years. We'd heard both good and bad things about it and with our limited time we stuck to the bacchanal we knew which were the swingers cruises.

For those unaware, hedo 2 is a all inclusive resort in Jamaica. While its not “only” a lifestyle resort, its set up for lifestyle activities including play rooms. The resort has two sides, nude and “prude”. The nude side you MUST be nude when you are out and about, and the prude side its optional. Really this only applies to the beachs and pool area, if you get a room on the nude side you can leave with clothes on to go to the main area/dinning etc. 90% of the people will go to the nude side during the day, with a handful on the prude, who are usually also nude but looking for quiet, and a few who don't want to take it all off.

I have to say I was very happily surprised how nice Hedo was and its now on our list of places we will go once empty nesters whenever we have the ability to go. We had a great time. So if you don't like long reviews stop here, its a thumbs up.

If you DO like long reviews, I've got something for you.

Lets break this down on two sides, the swinging side, and the resort side, starting with the resort.

Food: B

In the past we heard mixed reviews about Hedo's food. We found it quite good, especially the main buffet. The pastries were very good (vets told us these were the best they had there), food was fresh, lots of variety. It's not going to win any Michelin stars, BUT for a all inclusive resort I have no real complaints. The specialty dining was a bit more “meh” for me, but most people seemed to like it, its a good change of pace. Being, unlike says a cruise where the specialty dining has an extra charge attached this was included, it was still worth the time.

Rooms: B

I've heard in the past these were not so good, but for a tropical location next to the sea and exposed like they are to elements, I found them to be clean, well maintained, and no issues. We've been to desire RM and like the rooms at Hedo much better. My only complaint would be the configuration of the airconditioner would have it blowing right on the bed, a flaw I've seen in more than one hotel room so I've come up with a fix long before this which for a small fee I'll divulge.

Put a towel over the top of it that hangs past the vents, the air will blow straight down instead of out over the bed.

Non swing activities: A -

If you love to dive, snorkel, sail, kyack, these are all available with no extra charge, something that surprised the hell out of me on the diving side. My wife doesn't scuba so I didn't come prepaired but I'll be sure to refresh my certification for our next trip.

They also have massages, sports, pool, etc but to be honest while the massages were popular we didn't see too many people doing the later, but swingers tend to socialize more so expected.

Staff: A

I've never had better service anywhere, period. The staff was fantastic. I think our worst experience was a guy who looked bored handing out jerk chicken one night. I'd have been bored too. It was rare you had to ask for anything or wait long for it. Once or twice a specific bar might be backed up and slow, but nothing to complain about. I can't say enough good things about the people working there.

Entertainment: No grade

I personally didn't get much out of it, but thats me. Song and dance numbers, with fake simulated sex acts here and there, just don't appeal to me, so I'm not the one to judge. Over all people seemed to enjoy them, but I'd not go to hedo for the nightly shows myself. It is a nice relax and just sit after dinner time (they are in the main dinging area).

Drinks : A-

While I'm not a big drinker, unlike the usual complaint of watered down drinks at a all inclusive, this was definitely not the case at hedo. They were very generous with the pours. Wait times even at the nude pool bar were not long, even for frozen drinks (I recommend the dirty banana).

Lifestyle side:

What kind of crowd to expect, how old, how fit, do they allow singles, etc are common questions asked . The crowd is VERY dependent on the groups that go, and luck. The week before we got there was “sexy silvers” (I might have the exact name wrong) which is a group of older to elderly swingers, there is another group I've heard of called “Old fat men and hot chicks” and while hotness is subjective apparently the old fat men is appropriate. The groups there when we went were swing social (the one we went with), Rascals, and Topless travel. The group was very mixed, I'd say average age in the 40's, and the gambit of fitness. We got lucky in that all groups were quite fun, and led some nice pool parties. There is very little group segregation so to speak as everyone just sort of hung out.

For newbies, relax, once you get past the nude bit, which very quickly felt normal, there is no pressure to play. We ran into many newbie couples who were not swingers and this was there first time ever doing anything like it.

I do recommend going with a group like we did, especially if you are new, as it gives you a good start in socializing, which can be hard when starting out. If you are lucky your “travel agents” become your friends, and we've been lucky with that. We've met some really great couples this way. A couple of years ago we met a couple who makes this their passion and does their best to get people involved. I wish we had more people like this in the LS and I recommend them for booking.

I was going to make this an all out review but times been short this week. I probably didn't cover things people are interested in so please ask if you have any questions please ask.

Comments

A small number were blitzed out of their mind but surprisingly small, but it never seemed to be an issue. Mostly from the US but we met several from Canada and some from Europe and South America.

Security was pretty on the ball there. I had no complaints there. I'm surprised the Sandals people got as far as they did. You are required now (dunno when you were there) to wear a rubber wristband thats pretty obvious (day passes are a different color and paper).

It WAS a bit over the top once for a friend there. She had sunburned shoulders and she put a sunshirt just over her shoulders, not wearing it and got told she had to take it off, but all her naught bits were uncovered. That was a bit much IMO, but rather that than the other way around I suppose.

I've had to ask myself that question.

In a way they are very different events. The cruise has MANY more people so I think your odds of finding 'your tribe' is better if you are good at socializing but hedo is more friendly and more relaxed. The cruises to us see more play focused, more regimented, and less relaxing, but a better place for meeting people.

Hedo is more like a vacation, where everyone happens to be nude and many are swingers.

So with the right people there hedo > cruises to us but the cruises are always going to have some of the right pepole, where hedo might be in a situation where you have a group you never want to fuck and a group who never wants to fuck you as the main people there.

Hedo also isn't set dates and packing is 100X easier. If it weren't for the liquid restrictions you could pack all you need in a carry on.

We'll definitely be going again though.

How much of a pain were flights?

Not a problem, but its direct from us.

And expense?

About the same as the cruise, but we spent less being we didn't specialty dine fee and the bar was included.

Did you do the puddle jumper for the last leg?

Yes and it was nice, we took the shuttle bus back and that was fine too. If you have the money take the puddle jumper, but we'll probably skip it next time and save the money. We had friends that recommended TimAir to the resort and the bus back. We did get lucky in that our flight home wasn't early, some people had to be on the shuttle at 630am and one couples didn't show up and they had to get a private taxi last minute.

And lastly, will we be seeing you again in November?

Yep.

Any info or details on the scuba, or the snorkeling?

Did the snorkeling and it was quite good, didn't get to scuba but the dives were 90 and 50 feet according to people I asked and very good visibility.
