Couple not committing

We have a couple that we have played with a few times. We enjoy playing with them and they enjoy playing with us.
Problem is, we have varying ways of doing things. They are very spur of the moment with their lives. They decide to get a hotel for the weekend and invite us to come on short notice.
We are the planning type because anything beyond a few hours getaway, we need a sitter for the dog and crotch fruit.
Any advise on making a compromise? Seems like we just aren't getting things to work out.
