Curious about STIs and such...
Post Body

We've been in and around the LS for several years now. Just recently we have been playing with others which has included vetted play with a single (MFMs) and play at a club where we played with a couple we had been chatting with and a couple we didn't even know ( a sexy 6 some I guess).

All penetration has been with condoms but as we likely know there is still lots of intimate contact (no protection with oral) and transfer of plenty of other fluids and such.

I've search this sub and found a little information but nothing concise. Just curious as to what everyone's level of protection is (some people I imagine just test and don't use protection at all) and if they did get any STIs etc. We all know you assume risk when you engage in these activities. We are just curious as to how that has played out for the more experienced folks.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you so much for this response. It gets exactly to our questions or concerns. We want to be super vigilant. We also want to play with others who share the same approach. But even with that, we know and accept the risks. We were just curious as to what the results were in others' experiences.

Sometimes people want to ask a particular segment or for a special viewpoint and generic searches don't give them answers they accept or understand

This describes perfectly my difficulty in my original search.

Thanks for the thorough response. I will also do another search. Admittedly, I only did one search iteration, and the best I found was a poll done about 4 years ago.

10 years in this world. Zero issues.

This is great to hear.

Actually, I missed the "new" function. That would have helped. Thanks for the useful advice.

Also, I am not the only one who pointed out that this is regularly discussed )including one of the Mods).

You are correct. Others did point it out. But much differently than you did.

For the most part, you do an excellent and helpful job as self appointed gate keeper of this sub.

It's clear that you are all knowledgeable and never step out of line. But for a person who seems to derive purpose out of monitoring this sub all day providing advice, let me share some with you.

I was genuine in my question and that I did some searching. I didn't find what I needed. Maybe I should have dedicated more of my life into this research. Maybe I just suck at searching this sub. I own that.

But maybe, just maybe, you should keep quiet sometimes if you have nothing of value to add.

I did this. I used "STI" and "STD" but didn't know how to ask "how many people have gotten" and "what level of protection were you using".

The sorting function you mention is interesting, though. I'll look more into that. Thanks!

I've had an STI, but at a time in my life I was swinging.

Sorry, but could you elaborate on this? When you had your STI, you were or weren't swinging at that time? And presumably, you weren't using protection?

Thanks for the comment. In fairness I am not new and there are a lot of repeated questions/posts on this sub.

I've seen the gate keeping by this user and was, in fact, a little fearful that I wouldn't meet her standards, thus my search in the first place. That said, I guess I should have spent way more time searching, or I need to up my searching skills.

This is exactly what I am referring to. In spite of using protection, there is an accepted risk of some transfer, and I am more after the anecdotal numbers of how common it is that people do contract something.

Wow. You seem to be on the higher end of vigilance and caution, yet you still got an STI in a relatively short time. Any idea how you got it?

Testing is great. If you don't mind me asking, do you always use protection, and have you ever tested positive for anything?

I've only heard of someone being sued for knowingly and willfully infecting people with STIs, specifically HIV.

I can't see a legal system that would hold people liable in any other scenario.

Considering this post and your comment history, you seem to be fear mongering a lifestyle you don't agree with. Why are you doing this rather than just avoid it altogether and let people live their own lives?

Thank you. This is exactly what I was after.

Yes. This is all true, and I agree with every bit of it. Thank you!

My main question ( and I could have been clearer in asking it, I guess) is how many people have gotten an STI and were they using protection.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Found a ton of posts on STIs, but not a lot of real-life experiences and anecdotes of how many people actually have gotten an STI and what level of protection they used.

I believe you. The general topic is brought up a lot. Unfortunately, yesterday's post you are referring to didn't come up in my search, and we were traveling this last weekend (got back into town at 330am) and I haven't been keeping up with the sub as much as I normally do.
