Attention problems - gay vs straight swinging

Speaking from the more gay side of the swinging realm, I find MMMM with my partner to be very complex, and most of the posts here make swinging sound like a cake walk. MFMF seems simpler.
Problem is, when everyone can/wants to play with everyone in the group, it seems like there's usually a differential in attraction leading to a problem from lack of attention as not everyone is equally attracted to everyone.
In MFMF, despite the same number of people, unless people are bi, it's pretty clear who each person will be playing with.
Do you all think this is true, or are we just doing it wrong?
