This event was advertised as a hotel takeover at the Alexis Park resort in Las Vegas for 3 days of daytime pool parties and themed evening parties from Thursday to Saturday with a free after party each night. This was our first time at a hotel takeover event and have nothing else to compare it to. We consider ourselves noobs as we have been active in the lifestyle for about 6 months.

Before the trip:

  • Booking with the resort was strange. I paid on the website and did not receive a confirmation email. I had to screenshot the final purchase screen after my credit card went through to save record of my purchase. This ended up being sufficient at booking but was weird.
  • We used our hotel confirmation screenshot to buy the 2 day pass for Friday and Saturday’s parties. Our flight would land on Thursday in the late evening so we figured we’d be able to attend the free Thursday night after party. We emailed the hostess to verify and she said that the after parties would only be free if you paid to attend the evening party before it. Based on that you’d expect they shouldn’t be advertising them as free but alas.

Friday: - After breakfast at the hotel (not good, nothing to do with the event staff) we head to the check in area. They have some cute swag from SLS.com and SDC. Getting a wristband is simple. - Completely bad luck, it’s raining cats and dogs. We head to the pool anyways and it’s a sparse crowd. We are fortunate enough to meet very cool people with whom we bonded for the weekend who saved our trip. - The party doesn’t allow outside drinks and food; you have to purchase at the bar. Drinks are between $16-$20 each not including tip. Quite pricey for very simple drinks. - When the DJ equipment got too wet to use, they kicked everyone out of the pool for safety reasons. This is around 2:30ish and there is no alternative for the attendees. An email blast indicating the party was shut down would have been nice as well but there wasn’t any communication regarding it. - The rain stops temporarily about an hour later and people come out again with their own drinks, food, and music since the party got shut down. We technically aren’t supposed to be there but hotel security lets it fly. - It’s clear this isn’t a true hotel takeover at all. The resort’s layout is multiple neighboring buildings with a set amount of suites. The event parties were in building 19. It would have been nicer if the swinger folks could have been given suites all in the same building but people were spread out (some by design and others due to weather). One couple mentioned having very loud kids above them, not good. - Lots of families were staying at the resort and walked by the pool while festivities were occurring. No play was allowed at the pools of course but with the alcohol and thong bikinis it’s not hard to guess who we were and it was uncomfortable to be in such close proximity to kids. - Evening party is alright but super sparse crowd again. We talk to a couple who says the last time they came to an Allures and Purrfect LV evening party it was a roaring crowd. Wonder if advertising was lackluster or another reason caused the low turnout this year. - We head to the after party suites and they are really nice with jacuzzis behind the beds in the rooms. I’m going to guess play may have happened there as the night went on but we left before that started up. There were some characters (quick advice to men: when introducing yourself, shake my hand and say hi. Don’t kiss my hand please?!) The suite on the ground floor had a mildew-y smell emanating from the wet carpet near the entrance due to overflow from the heavy rain earlier in the day.

Saturday: - A call in the morning from the resort staff alerts us that our building has sprung a leak so we have to move suites to a different building. We go to the front desk for our new keys and I see signage directing guests to the Euphoria Pool party, a YuGiOh card event and a wedding. Takeover indeed. - Pool party is at noon again. We get there about 1:30 just in time for the rain to return with a vengeance. At about 2 they shut the bar and the dj booth down again but people are resilient so they start things right back up with speakers and beer. The weather clears some so things keep up for another few hours. - A few hours before the evening party we get an email advertising a pool party hosted by Purrfect LV and Allures at a different location scheduled for the next day and for an additional fee. It left a bad taste in my mouth. It’s one thing to charge folks coming for the first time, but after having to cancel the pool parties for those who paid to ask for more money from us seems ridiculous. Are y’all really that strapped for cash? - Not as much of an issue the previous night because the theme was white party, but tonight’s theme was latex. The ballroom is a short walk from the front doors to a side section of the building and you have to walk through the lobby to reach it. This meant LS folks had to walk through the vanilla crowd and families wearing shiny fetish gear and other such things. Even Vegas has its limits. - A couple people mentioned event staff asked to take photos of them to promote the parties which floored me. Discretion is top priority for many folks in the LS so for event staff to potentially compromise that for additional ticket sales rubs me wrong. - The evening party this night was so dead we ended up going to the Red Rooster and saw multiple folks from the resort there. Told me all I needed to know. - Didn’t even bother attending the free after party.

Sunday: - We check out and do our own thing in town. It’s a nice hot day free from rain.

General notes: - This was our first travel event as a couple and upon sharing that everyone said this was one of the worst hotel takeover and/or event period they’ve attended. Nowhere to go but up from here! - Folks kept saying we should go to Temptations in Cancun. That might be the move in the future when we’re ready. - We enjoyed the first of hopefully many hotel orgies with our new friends on the last night so that helped salvage things. Happy to share details on that if anyone is curious. - During the Sunday pool party as it rained we saw the bride from the wedding chain smoking while someone held up the train of her dress. Vegas is a fever dream. - I do not recommend any event hosted by Purrfect LV and/or Allures. If you see this feedback do better please. - Even though the event hosts weren’t ideal, we had a great time talking in depth to people with more experiences in the LS who had really insightful, funny, and comforting things to say about navigating swinging, establishing boundaries, communication with your partner, and having fun. That was well worth our trip and what we wanted as a part of putting ourselves out there. - Don’t be shy and talk to people who interest you, talk to people you’re attracted to, you never know where it may lead you. It made our rainy weekend worth it.

True! It was nice to spend much more time talking with swingers over a period of a few days and in different environments vs only in a loud nighttime setting. We went to dinner and I commented that it was weird seeing everyone in clothes. Really got a chance to get to know people holistically which made my partner and I feel safe enough to play with them.

Mmm but the Boobs Cruise sounds like a thing to do at least once.

I meant other swinger related events I’ve been to separate from takeovers, like clubs.

Next time I’m in the east coast I’ll check some of those out. I’m west coast based so maybe I’ll find some closer to home.

I’m sure there are, I simply don’t know about them. As I mentioned, this is only one I’ve been to. Is there a takeover that stands out among the ones you find to be well run?

Yeah, we were underwhelmed by the staffing of it all. Red Rooster was kitschy and fun, lots of space and seating for making conversation. We heard about Green Door being overrun with single males and Playhouse LV being alright. Didn’t get to visit those venues though! I have yet to be truly impressed by a swingers event in terms of hosting but we try to make the most of it by talking to folks and playing with them.
