Attending hotel takeover but not staying ?

A local group is having a hotel takeover within driving distance of our house. At this point it’s completely sold out but they do sell tickets if you just want entry to the event which we are considering doing
Is there any reason this would be a horrible idea? I understand we won’t have a room to retreat to but they will have open play spaces and we are mainly just trying to meet people and maybe play with ourselves
My husbands biggest concern is “where would we keep our drinks “ which is fair lol
Has anyone ever done this before ? Or should we wait till one where we can get a room ??
