Day Pass to Desire and Nearby resorts

Wifey and I are not sure about committing to our full vacation at Desire, but we have heard you can buy a day pass. We thought we might get a room at a nearby vanilla resort and pop over to desire a couple of times to check out the vibe and see if it’s for us. Anyone have experience doing this? Recommend any particular resort that’s nearby?
