Clubs in upstate NY?

My wife and I are exploring and getting started at this, lots of excitement and discussion about going to a club but all the ones we hear about are outside our normal travel radius. Is there anything at all in upstate NY, western Mass or Vermont? We’ve talked about making a destination trip to a bigger city but I also tend to think something more accessible would be an easier lift for a first experience.
