I’ve been interested in polyamory and swinging for a long time but have never been with a partner who was open to it. I’ve been in a long term relationship for ~3 years, my partner and I have had conversations about having a 3rd or having a 3 way or something similar but he has always expressed that he would be open to relations with another woman together but that he would be uncomfortable with me being with another man. I feel like this is unfair as he would be having relations with another woman so how is it wrong for me to do the same with another man? How do I make him understand that in that situation it would only EVER be sexual and only ever as a team, I preferably wouldn’t even have contact information for the man. Is this even doable or worth exploring with someone who has these feelings? Anyone been through this type of situation? Thanks in advance
It’s very unfair. To us, just like with anything else in a relationship, being open takes balance for both partners. He wants the benefit of another woman but doesn’t want to give you that same benefit.
All you can really do is don’t hold back and tell him all of your desires. Let him think about it. Ask him to learn more about it with you. If he still holds the position he currently has, you need to make a choice on if you want to suppress those desires for him or look for someone who helps you fulfill them.

Listen to some podcasts with him. My guess is the more he feels like it’s a journey you two are on together the more he will be open.
