Recently while hanging out with some friends from the LS we got to discussing sneaking away for a weekend as a group.

Recently my husband and I have taken ownership of his parents cabin in the mountains and i thought that might be a great location to host our friends for a long weekend at the end of May. Possibly have all the women go up together Friday and have a Women's only retreat Friday into Saturday and then have the Men come up and join us for the rest of the weekend.

In discussing this with 2 of the women I expect to invite, the idea is that nothing LS would be specifically planned, but it would also not be discouraged and likely encouraged.

The house/cabin has 4 bedrooms (1 master and 3 other) a den that could be used as a bedroom, a large kitchen, a loft/family room and a great room. My in-laws originally built it as an investment property and would rent it out during the Ski season, so it is basically designed for hosting groups for several nights, and it Screams "1984" (the year not the book) in its furnishings and decor.

I have been looking over past posts about hosting (as I have never hosted before) and have some more insight as to what to plan for and bring, but i haven't seen any recent posts about a long weekend or divided group weekend like I am thinking of having.

Has anyone had experience hosting a long weekend like this?

Questions bouncing in my head -

- What should I plan for that is different than hosting just an overnight party?

- Is it better to plan things around LS focused activities or just keep things open and if they happen they happen?

- I have 2 single friends (women) who I've considered inviting, or is it better to keep it to couples only.

any thoughts are appreciated.
