My SO other and I are new to the LS. We've had luck meeting people through apps but have had difficulty building a local community. We are in a smaller city which limits options to meet people organically. She has a friend who has been in the LS for years and we expected her to help integrate us into the local scene.
It really feels like we aren't welcome. We are both very outgoing and get the vibe that their circle feels threatened by us. We arent models by any means but our personalities are easily a 10 and we can chat with anyone easily and aren't uncomfortable in any situation. It seems there is jealousy because of this even though we aren't even interested in playing with anyone on the local scene.
Is this normal when a new couple enters the LS and meets a local group? We expected to be welcomed with open arms as "fresh meat" but it seems like our social skills are actually a hindrance.
