6 months ago we had hotel fun with a couple we’ve met with a few times prior. Next morning while packing up, we noticed one of her earrings on the bed. We text them and tell them we found it and let’s arrange to either pick it up or we can drop it off ( we are in the same city). They said thanks for finding it; we will get it next time we see you.

  • 3 weeks later; they text and ask us for the earring as it has sentimental value and we responded sure; we can drop it off, you can pick it up etc. Here is where it gets weird. No response.
  • we text a week later ; no response

Fast forward 6 months - now - they message out of blue saying sorry; personal issues happened , can we get earring back as it does have sentimental value. We say- sure- we’ve kept it safe; figured you would remember sooner or later and reach out. How do you want to get it.

Now, no response after 3 days from them . Husband and I are split.

I want to just block them as it’s obvious its not that important and they’ve ghosted us 3 times. He doesn’t. -they live 10 minutes away and we’ve been extremely accommodating and understanding.

I know the “polite answer is to keep it” but I hate being ghosted 3 times in a row! We are talking late 40’s couple; stable great jobs pillar of community… not like a obvious flakey couple …and it’s not like they can’t drop by: arrange a courier, or have is drop off as we’ve offered.
