Can you believe in God/Jesus and be a swinger? I’m feeling conflicted. We’ve been in the LS for many years and have a great marriage. I was brought up southern Baptist and have always believed in Jesus. But don’t go to church any more. Lately I feel like I want to get closer to God. (probably all the doomsday/revelation vibes going on in the world and watching too many conspiracy videos😂) but I digress. How many out there feel this way? I try to justify the LS in many ways.. like…we aren’t cheating, we aren’t harming anyone, etc. Anyone else think this way?
There is a subreddit that is addressing some of the traditional issues for Swinging Christians. You might want to check that out. r/ChristianSwingers/
I am a Christian, I was raised Catholic. Went to Catholic school (the skirt, shoes, white top). Got married the first time in the Catholic Church. Divorced, remarried and we agreed to become Lutheran (Catholic Light, all of the ritual with half the guilt).
You have a relationship with God through Christ. When God created us, he only put down one conditional rule, which of course we broke... not to eat from the tree of knowledge. In the very very beginning, God made us and he made us perfectly. God created in us, a marvelous adaptability to enjoy sex which is very pleasurable.
Church Doctrine and Society have tried to make Recreational Sex a "bad thing". Why? Are we having too much fun? It's not because we will be damned, Christ was clear in his message of where and how high the bar was to enter his kingdom. There are over 45,000 different Christian doctrines. They are interpretations made by man for man that are intended to define how good Christians behave and they all disagree with each other on different points.
My personal Christian doctrine does not consider the act of Recreational Sex a sin. However, like many many things, one is capable of turning it into a sin. For example, going to a sex club behind your spouse's back would certainly be a sinful act.
You choose to have Recreational Sex, sometimes with others. And you do this with the consideration of Christian values (which I don't have the time to go into in this post), then you are fine. Consider this...
There are 4 different stages of Sex.
- Sex for Courtship purposes.
- Sex for Love/Marriage
- Sex for Procreation
- Sex for Recreation
Courtship sex for me, a good Catholic virgin included holding hands, a scandalous make out session, letting him cop a feel, and a few blow jobs. The pants never came off. Looking back on it, I was sexually frustrated during my teenage years.
Sex for Marriage / Love was my expression to my husband and I still do it to this day. Since we know each other so very very well, I know exactly what pleases him, how to keep it from never getting boring. I love him!
Sex for Procreation. It was hard to get pregnant... you are having intercourse on a schedule to assure that a baby is created!
Recreational Sex. We are DONE, I am DONE having children. AND I went right for the mommy makeover. And now we have sex for fun. At first the "fun" sex was just with my husband. Taking a few risks. Having sex on top of a mountain trail in Colorado. Sex at a concert as discretely as I could. Then one day, we found ourselves including others in your recreational sex. At first it was "Soft Swap". Then oral only swap. Finally, where we are today which is "bring on the Roman orgy"!
Of course I get hammered online for my beliefs. But my emotional armor is pretty thick now and a little heckling does not compare to the adventures we have had together.
Christ loves you. He asks that you believe and have faith in Him. He has directed us with his Great Commandment. He tasked us with his Great Commission. Are we supposed to ignore people enjoying sex and state to them that the Great Commission does not apply to them? If they are following the Great Commandment with its simple condition of treating others as you would want to be treated - that somehow they lack faith? No - if you believe in Christ and his teachings, then you are a Christian.
