A Surprise Interruption

The night was going well, and we were all getting along great. Just as we were about to take things further, a phone rang. It was the babysitter, calling to say that one of the kids was sick and needed attention.
Quick apologies were made, and they left in a hurry to take care of their child. We were left there, a bit surprised and disappointed, but understanding that sometimes, life just happens and you have to roll with it.
