I'm attending Boston Tea Party Swings this weekend primarily as a West Coast Swing dancer, but I took a beginner Lindy Hop lesson this week to at least have something for the event. I've been dancing WCS for around a year and a half, and felt pretty good in the Lindy lesson I took. We learned the basic feel of Lindy and the connection, and then did sugar pushes, side passes, tuck turns, and swingouts. I'm only attending BTP for a day (saturday) and wanted to go to an All Levels lindy workshop or two to learn more before starting to go to Lindy lessons more regularly (since the workshop I took was really fun!). However, I'm really nervous I'll A) not be good enough for the workshops and B) hinder my partners' experience by not being able to keep up. How advanced does one have to be for 'all levels'? In my mind, as a WCS dancer, one is ready for an all levels workshop when they know (at any level) the basic couple patterns in WCS (sugar push, side passes, sugar tuck, whip are the ones that come to mind, whip is a maybe even), but what is the standard for Lindy?
For more context, the workshops I'm interested in attending are titled "Dancing Fast & Not Dying", "Fun with Charleston", and "Charleston & Lindy"
as a separate note, I don't know Charleston - am I ok to attend these since they're labelled as a Lindy workshop? Or is Lindy a catchall? I'm a little lost here, feels like my first day again - exciting but scary!
Thanks, and looking forward to the event :)
