Cramps after long break from swimming
Post Body

Hi guys, so basically I haven’t swam properly for about let’s say 10-15 years and I decided to start getting back into it today. For background I was a strong swimmer before and took lessons for about 5 years when I was younger. However when I started today, after only about 150m of front crawl I started cramping like crazy in both my calves and feet. I’m not sure if it’s due to my technique or the fact I haven’t swam in so long. I think it’s both. I feel like my kicking technique has gone down the drain as I feel like I’m kicking only with my feet and I think this is causing the cramps but I’m not sure. Should I just kick with my feet to generate power or should I use my whole leg I’ve completely forgotten. Should I also retake lessons to get better or can this be rectified myself? Or is it simply a matter of me not swimming for a long time. Thanks in advance
