I am not sure I get Auto-Encrave (or I am not doing it right)

I looked up the guides on how Auto-Encrave works (unlock with regular Encrave hits, find waterbottle girl or skittering squirrel, click the switch, then let it play), but it still feels like it takes over an hour to cycle through the videos or sometimes requires me to hit Play on a video.

Am I just misunderstanding and this requires a significant amount of babysitting or am I doing something wrong? I am using Chrome because my Firefox has a Flash blocker, pressing Ctrl Tab to switch tabs while I do other things, but it seems to cycle through 10 videos before moving on even if I leave that window or tab as the focus.
