Understanding a Topo map
Post Body

I recently posted two questions about finding a location in the distance. Got a lot of great suggestions that I will have to read up on. One suggestion was a Topo map. So, lets assume you have a Topo map and you want to go to a point that is so far away it is on the horizon. The top of a tree covered hill. How do you know the hill you see on the horizon is only the side of the hill on the Topo? Here is a screen shot of a Topo for an area I have hiked. I am at the red circle. I want to go to the blue circle. How do I determine the blue circle is what I see on the horizon? I can determine where I am at the red circle because of roads as landmarks. But how do I determine that blue circle is the horizon that I am looking at?
