Something I have always wondered about. If you look at the horizon and you see a spot you want to go to. Say it is a tree on a tree covered hill. How do you know when you have reached the spot you are looking at? I mean, if there is one lone tree that would be easy. But, the horizon could be halfway up a tree covered mountain and when you reach the spot you saw, you would see more mountain and keep going past the spot you wanted to go to. Look at this photo. https://www.picturecorrect.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/techniques-for-horizon-photos.jpg .
Suppose you wanted to go to the tree the sun is sitting on. How would you know when you reached that tree? Is there a way to calculate distance?
