I am solid in math, love being outside, and am fine working alone. What does a typical day actually look like? Are there any potentially shitty things I may not be considering with the job?
If you're hitting the open cut mines it's all good. Cruising round in a ute, flying UAVs, some GPS jobs on foot or from the car, maybe a few pegs. I'm assuming US mine surveyors are the same (open cut). The worst you'll get is maybe some rain or mud, maybe some cold mornings. Usually it all shuts down in the rain though.
I have worked in town and it's way better out here. They can keep their shit sticks, snake infested reed covered creek banks and little assholes kicking your tripods in the cities.

At least you won't have crazed property owners threatening to dispense with you for stealing their land. Worst you'll get out here is some dick in a truck running over a peg.
