I was wondering which study would be best to undertake if my main goal is to be a surveyor in the mines. I was in two minds of which study would be the best to undertake at USQ (I reside in QLD). They have a 2 year associate degree or I was looking at the 3 year Bachelor. I know both are useful in the mines but will the 3 year give me better career development/ opportunities? Thanks for any insight.
The BSST is a 3 yr full time degree, however, you could start with the 2yr ADSS if you just wanted to get in then upgrade.
3yr degree required for Surveyor Registration. Once registered, you can look down the endorsement path for open cut, underground coal or underground metalliferous.
Registration is completed through career episode reports and an interview, endorsement through CERs, project and interview. There's an option to just do an interview if you have sufficient evidence of your work rather than the CER process.
