I posted over at techsupport as well, but I think this is such a weird issue that no one really knows whats going on.
Im using a Surface Pro 6.
I am having the WEIRDEST issue right now. So back in April i bought a pair of cheap over the ear bluetooth headphones for my computer because I am in grad school and we got kicked off campus to do online learning.
The headphones worked great. Connected via audio and music without issue. Long battery life, long range, just wonderful (especially for a cheap amazon pair).
Now, about 2 weeks ago, they started acting up. Sometimes they didnt connect right away, sometimes they would disconnect randomly, but they still worked if i futzed around a bit with them and the computer settings. I did notice though, that all these issues were happening when I would join a class on Cisco Webex. Sometimes there would be no sound coming from the headset, and I'd have to either reset the bluetooth connection, and other times i would have to restart the webex program.
Then they just died. stopped connecting and if they connected it would just connect as music, and the sound was muffled and terrible. I contacted the company and they sent me a new pair. This one did the same thing. So now i knew it wassnt the headset.
I tried the headset telephony method and unchecked that. I tried repairing, and nothing working. only connected as music and was muffled sound for both headsets.
Finally I reinstalled the bluetooth drivers and the headsets worked fine. Until of course, this AM, when i got back into class on webex. One class worked fine, the next was muffled, and the next didnt connect right.
I know its a stretch, but is it possible that the program is screwing with the bluetooth settings because its a video/audio program? I know about computers.. but i dont know THAT much about computers. I've since reinstalled the BT drivers again, and the sound works fine through the head set. (This was posted yesterday, and today after 2 classes of working headset, the webex program crashed, and now my BT is screwed yet again)
I cant seem to figure out why this worked with no issues for months, and all of a sudden its causing so many issues back to back with two different head sets.
TLDR - Headphones stopped working, and it seems to be because of a program or the computer, not because of the headset itself. Any clues on how to prevent this issue from reoccurring?
