Hey everyone, I'm looking for a daily driver laptop for use at home, but something that also remains fairly portable. I currently have a Surface Pro 7 (i5, 8gb RAM) that I use at home and when I'm out/traveling, so the new computer will be in addition to this.
I'm quite interested in the Surface Laptop Studio (i7, 512gb, 16gb RAM) since it's now on sale for around $1800. I know it gets knocked for lacking somewhat in performance, but I'm not sure that it would matter all that much to me. I'm a musician and would use it for light video/audio editing, using the screen for marking music parts with the pen, along with the usual web browsing, MS office apps, youtube/occasional video watching. I'm not a gamer, so any issues regarding games doesn't matter to me. I do regular video conferencing, so webcam quality is a factor too.
I've always liked the build quality of Microsoft's products, really like the touchpad feel/responsiveness, lack of pre-loaded software on other brands, as well as the aspect ratio of the displays. 120Hz refresh on the SLS screen is also very appealing.
Price range max would be about $1800. I've also been looking at the latest gen Lenovo Slim Pro 7 (AMD Ryzen 7, GeForce RTX 3050) and latest gen Lenovo Yoga 9i (no separate graphics card though). Open to suggestions!
