New mechanics for peel supports?

What do you think of a mechanism for the peel supports, in which they can shield the minions?
This idea came to me thanks to the fact that a peel support, such as Janna, can shield turrets.
I think it could do something in early to prevent the enemy adc from losing some farm. Of course, it would be something that you have to think about because you can easily run out of mana early and that shield could perhaps be better left for a trade.
