I have found a versatile and powerful build for thresh support.
For a good chunk of my time on thresh I have played him in mid and top with much success, but not as much as I have been by bringing those methods and builds to the support role.
I have been getting consistent S-S ratings in my ranked games with this. The build goes as follows:
First buy: boots —> MERC TREDS (for high cc or ap lane opponents) or STEALCAPS (for double ad or adc/enchanter opponents)
First item: THORNMAIL (for most opponents, but especially effective for the healing reduction against enchanters or a lifesteel adc) or FORCE OF NATURE ( build this if your opponent has an ap carry support, or you are against a apc)
This is where thing get interesting: your next item will be CRYPTBLOOM. This item will take advantage of thresh’s high ap ratios, gives him magic pen, and gives a team wide heal on takedowns.
Back to basics: depending on if the enemy team is ad or ap heavy you are gonna build another armor or Mr item. Personally I go with THORNMAIL or FORCE OF NATURE if I haven’t built it already, but any tank item you feel is needed will work. This is just what I’ve had the most success with.
Final item: your final item is another ap item, DEATHCAP. This item spikes your ap once completed. But, being a support, it is gonna take a while to build and some games I don’t even get to it. But it is worth in the end.
Runes and play style: you pretty much just play thresh as usual with this build, if not a bit more aggressive. The point of this is tho leave your target at half or lower and let your teammates finish the job. the runes go as follows.
Aftershock Demolish Conditioning Revitalize Absolute focus Gathering storm Adaptive force shard Health scaling shard Tenacity shard
