Alright Apes, need help.
Does anyone out there know if it is possible on a live broadcast over Youtube to turn off the public broadcasting of those viewership numbers, or is it always on?
I just had a realization, and a certain Sandwhich and I think there's something big coming.
Earnings tomorrow are being broadcast both on the GameStop investor site, but also on a simultaneous feed on Youtube.
Streams on Youtube have live viewership numbers publicly broadcast.
They haven't ever had this option before, and absolutely have not needed it in the past. But it's being offered.
Obviously there's a few options and contingencies to this, and I don't want to get too hype about it yet, but we could be 15 hours from having potentially the truest estimation of how engaged apes are we have yet to have. Edit: clarified wording here. This wouldn't be considered a reliable method to get a true shareholder count by any means. But number of viewers at the top of the broadcast, and further comparing that to total viewership by the end? I think there's hype to be found there.
This comes with a the MOST MASSIVE GRAIN OF SALT.
If we get to the broadcast, and we don't have viewership numbers, IT IS NOT A DISAPPOINTMENT. They realized that giving that number out might be an issue, but wanted to pass traffic on their broadcast to another, better equipped service.
However, if we do see a number of viewers broadcasted? I have to think it was a very intentional move.
So with all that out, does anyone know if its a setting that can even be turned off at all?
Edit: https://investor.gamestop.com/ Investor page is broadcasting but the Youtube link is not live.
Update: I've been trolling thru YouTube live streams and haven't found one yet with the numbers turned off. Every live channel has a public current viewership listed.
