AJ Bell response to voting in the UK
Post Body

Hi, I have sent 6 messages to my broker, AJ Bell regarding voting.

All i have had in the past is "no, we are with crest, and you cant vote."

I sent them another message today, asking again, as etoro has allowed voting, and they are with CREST too. I also asked them if it was possible to send a non vote.

this is their reply to me.

Thank you for your message.

Unfortunately, Crest are still not facilitating this AGM. I can't confirm what Etoro's mechanics are however I would likely assume that as
they also have a US branch/brokerage service that they are possibly able to facilitate voting via the US clearing system DTCC, which they
have access to being a US broker, rather than Crest.

I note in their T&Cs that they state outright that they don't facilitate shareholding voting at all and therefore suspect that therefore
change in stance is possibly down to the fact that they can submit votes via DTCC but had just previously chosen not to, rather than any
change with Crest. This is just a suspicion, however.

If Crest do notify us that they have somehow worked out a way for them to accept votes, then we'll notify our customers but for now the stance from them is still that this cannot be facilitated.

With AGMs for any given resolution there are three options when submitting votes: In Favour, Against, Abstain

Abstain would be us submitting a vote to say we don't wish to vote or don't have an opinion either way.

If we could proactively submit a vote to Abstain, we'd equally be able to submit votes In Favour or Against.

We're essentially not able to submit anything. Nothing would be submitted for those shares. So, although we won't proactively be saying
"we're not voting", GameStop would understand as they wouldn't have heard from us. Whether or not they count that towards the vote, I wouldn't know, however no-one else would be able to vote on behalf of the shares belonging to our customers.

As far as I understand, synthetic shares can't vote and neither can shorters. In either case they don't own actual shares and wouldn't
appear on the GME share register maintained by the registrar so that should hopefully not be an issue.

So, it's not a case where GME will accept as many votes as there are shares and if we don't vote, synthetic shareholders could. GME should
accept as many votes as there are shares but only from legitimate recorded shareholders.

This is not a case of us not wanting to offer the vote. It's far less work for us to offer it than it has been not being able to offer it. So, if we could, we would.

If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

Yours sincerely

so I still cant vote, although the line "It's far less work for us to offer it than it has been not being able to offer it. " gives me hope that they have been inundated with requests to vote.

to the moon, fellow apes
