We are inevitable. We have stayed strong through all the FUD and have not sold or yielded. The second best thing for an opposing force to do would be to slow us down.
The true lasting damage from the current narrative that is being aggressively pushed is to stop passive recurring purchases and disable dividend reinvestment. The whole idea of becoming an untouchable company from short sellers is to have a strong business and a strong investor base. These two passive investing methods are proven to be the most effective methods for creating a situation for a company to remain in a beneficial capital formulation position, which in turn creates a strong stable investment for the investors. Handicapping these passive vehicles goes against everything we are trying to accomplish for GameStop.
I get where and why the idea came from. We are tired. We want to see movement now. Unfortunately regulation lags and institutional entities get too much leeway. We cannot handicap ourselves for the long term.
Holding a stock with a transfer agent no matter which way, gives you a direct relationship with the company. The transfer agent directly tracks your ownership, even if it is in plan. That is the whole point of DRSing! We know the DTC will use whatever tools they have, to on paper, make their books look healthy. This includes straight up not following the rules. The only thing we can control is if we have a direct relationship with the company we love. Plan shares satisfy this important requirement just as well as any other share held at Computershare.
The need for short term validation should not handicap our pursuit of the ultimate goal- to have 100% of the float directly tracked by Computershare. Passive investing is the ultimate way to get this done. Sit back, passively invest and be zen. We are inevitable.
