Help with calories?
Post Body

Hi everyone I’m really new here. I’ve been obese my whole life due to lack of healthcare and poor nutrition/over feeding from my parents when I was young. I currently weigh around 360lbs the biggest I’ve ever been and have had multiple attempts at losing weight that never seem to cause a dent in my size. I’ve found out I really like swimming (probably due to the weightless feeling) and have been attending aqua aerobics classes 2 times a week for about a month now. I used to binge eat but have gotten better at controlling it but I still get so moody when I’m hungry.

Anyways i’ve been trying to eat healthier but don’t really know where to start or if I’m doing it right? So I’m asking for any advice. I usually pack my lunch for work in the mornings it’s usually a 1/4 cup of rice, broccoli, two boiled eggs and some meat protein. (Lately fish but I’ve done small sirloin steaks as well) I eat it fairly early probably around 9am because I feel like I’m starving at that point but I am full for the rest of the day until dinner afterwards. Usually I only eat two meals because we are
kind of poor and three meals is pretty rough to have to pack for. I’m sure my nutrition is all off but I just don’t know where to start with all this. In the past I tried protein shakes for breakfast but the premade ones are really expensive. And I was still hungry after eating them as well as them being horrible to drink. Either way if some of you could comment how you would handle eating schedules or tips at my size that would be a world of help. Any information on the matter is appreciated, I feel like those in my immediate vicinity just tell me “eat less” but I am and it’s not really getting me anywhere..

I struggle with binge eating too and my therapist won't approve gastric bypass or any surgery for me until I conquer that.

There is a ton of advice out there and a lot of it wants your money. I like this site for free no nonsense advice http://www.theloseweightdiet.com/

Basically it says figure out how many calories your body needs to keep itself running all day, let's say 2000. Then subtract 500. So you would eat 1500 calories a day. Most of that is protein, a little fat, and the rest is carbs. Add activity to burn more calories or to have more calories to eat that day.

YouTube is a great place for exercise videos that are free and easy for days you can't get to the pool. I like chair yoga because it's hard for me to get down on the floor, but I still get a good stretch. There is also low to no impact HIIT training for beginners that's easy to do but gives great results.

For me, i can't go too strict on my calories or else I get frustrated and give up. You know yourself. Give yourself some room for treats and have a plan for slip ups. If you go over calories that day your whole week isn't ruined. Just start back on plan next meal. If you are sick try to stick to plan, otherwise get right back on it when you are well.

This is a lifestyle, not a diet.

Good luck!

I'm actually on Ozempic now. I didn't want to bring that into the discussion though since she mentioned money is tight, and this isn't cheap.
