need shoes for nonstop walking + standing: which are your faves?
Post Body

Hi!

I'm going on a trip this summer and, at almost 400 pounds, I'm looking at straying from my usual crocs insoles combination (which are great for every day but not for anything longterm) for something that will actually stand up to near constant walking and standing for over a week. After looking through several threads on here, I'm looking at 3 brands / types of shoe in particular:

  • On Running's Cloud Monster
  • Hoka's Clifton 9 (regular or GTX, I'm not sure if there's a real difference)
  • Sketcher's Cushioning Elite - Superior Stride or Max Cushioning Hyper Burst - Vivid Elegance

These seem to be the best options, as I need something stable, with a wide/wider fit, and very comfortable. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, so support/stability are really important along with comfort -- walking in the wrong shoes for a day can leave me horizontal for 2 days and I can't afford that on this trip.

Do y'all have any opinions on these options? Or do you swear by something else?

EDIT: Thank y'all so much for your comments and keep them coming, I think I've settled on the Hoka's but the additional tips are so helpful and the comments will help the next person that comes along this thread :)

I love my Hokas. I'm on my third pair. I get them fitted at a running store and I can stand and walk a lot longer wearing them than I can otherwise.
