New Honu board has three leaks along the seal - after one use! Says I over inflated it. How say you?

The guy I bought it from suggested because I pumped it up to 20psi and then it was in the sun. I can see the logic there however there are a couple of things I don't get. Firstly, the PSI range written on the board is 16 to 20psi. Secondly he said there is no need to pump it beyond 12-15. Which I don't get. I am pretty close to the max weight limit, so surely for max rigidity and stability, shouldn't I pump it to max?

Edit: Update. Thanks for the feedback everyone. For future reference it has been confirmed as a manufacturing issue and returned to the factory.
