How to support a friend..?

Hi all 💓 I have an online friend who is extremely depressed and constantly discussing whether he is going to end things or not. I’m not sure how to best support him, but I desperately want to help.
Does anyone have any words of advice of how to best help someone who’s having thoughts like this? I care very deeply about him and I’m becoming ridden with anxiety thinking about him hurting himself.
